Help needed on lost BRP card

Post by stevenzhang » Tue Feb 16, 2021 10:02 am

I have just had my citizenship ceremony this morning. The lady mentioned that I need to return the BRP card once I have received the certificate. However, I cannot find my BRP and it may be lost..

Can anyone give me some suggestion on what to do? What should I do if I cannot find my BRP card in the end?

Many thanks for your help!

You could/should report it as lost here: https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residence- ... en-damaged.
As you have a copy of the card (presumably) send a copy to the BRP Returns address with a cover letter explaining the situation and include the reference number you get when you have reported it as lost.
Clearly it's no longer valid as you are a British citizen now.

Should I send the letter now or after receiving the certificate?

Probably best to wait for your certificate - final poof of citizenship.

Ah...I just posted the letter out (acting too quickly)... wish it won't cause any trouble

Should be fine - we haven't seen any reports that applicants got into trouble over returning the BRP.
