Graduate Route (post study work visa)

Post by Samopex » Fri Feb 19, 2021 1:51 pm

My wife (main applicant) and I (dependant) just got our visas. She got a student visa (Msc).

If we are able to get a 2 years post study work visa upon her graduation and I decide to switch to a student visa for my master’s program before our psw visa expires.

Will I get post study visa upon my graduation while she now becomes my dependant?

The rules for the Graduate route have not been published yet. The government's basic plans for how it will work were published last July, now awaiting a statement of changes to the immigration rules:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... -statement

It would be probably be more logical and sensible for your wife to extend under the Skilled Worker route at some point during her Graduate Route leave, and you as her Skilled Worker dependant.
I do not give immigration advice. I refer you to Immigration Rules, guidance, other online content and to your sponsor.

Well, like you rightly said, it’s more sensible and logical for my wife to extend as a skilled worker while I remain her dependant which is what we intend to do actually.

We just wanna have other plans more like a plan B or C.

Thanks for the information, patiently waiting for the rules guiding the graduate route.
