Extension of visa due to the covid virus

My wife received a visitor visa to come here to see me some time ago. It expires in October. However, because of this virus and severe travel restrictions, she has been unable to come to visit me for most of the life of the visa.

In this specific situation, does the Home Office allow an extension of the visa to beyond October. Maybe for another 6 months after October.

So she is able to make more use of it? Of do they take the position she would have to apply for a new visa in October regardless?

They don't extend unused visitor visas.

You have to apply again when travel conditions are more predictable.
