Registering Citizenship for 6 month old

Post by shoni » Sun Feb 07, 2021 10:47 pm

Hi experts,

Me and My spouse got our ILR last month. We want to register our 6 month old baby born in UK as British Citizen. I have started filling the MN1 form and currently at the referee section. I need some help on this.

As per the guidelines one referee needs to be British Citizen above 25 age and another needs to know the child in professional capacity. I have arranged for one referee who is a friend of mine and a British Citizen above 25 age. I'm adding him as 'Friend of Family' in the application as relation to the applicant.

I reached out to the GP and health visitor but they declined to provide the referral. What options do I have in this case. Does both the referee need to be British Citizen?

Can i ask a friend who is not a British Citizen but is on tier 2 visa living in UK for 7 years and above 25 age to be a referee. I have another friend who has an ILR and above 25 age. Both these guys work in IT companies.

Thanks in advance!

Regards

For such small kids, HO is flexible. You can have the 2nd referee who is a professional and they don't have to be a British citizen.

Thanks a lot for your response! That makes mine life a lot easier.

I have a few more follow up queries-

Do I have to write a cover letter to explain why I had to chose this referee? ( Since the referee is a friend of mine and doesn't know my son on a professional capacity like GP/Health worker)

Does the profession of the referee has to be from the HO approved list of profession. He is a Client Account Manager in an IT company. I don't see this profession in the list, but he is a tax payer working on a registered company.

When I send the referee declaration form to the referee - Do I Have to attach my son's photo with his name on the back of the photo to the form and then send?

For both the referee, I have answered the below question in the form as 'Friend of Family'-
How does the referee know the applicant? This is because they are friend to me and my spouse. Is this acceptable to HO?

Thanking in advance!

Yes. Add it on the cover letter. Your friend as the referee is fine. Manager of a VAT-registered company is an accepted referee. Add the photo and your referees have to fill it up and send it back to us. You need to keep the originals safe and upload a scanned copy of those.

Hello experts,

I'm trying to upload documents in UKVCAS for registering my baby boy as British Citizen. There are so many categories. It clearly asks to upload Birth Certificate and Parent Marriage Certificate under Life Events. But it doesn't say anything on all other categories. Can someone help me under which category should I upload
1. Referee forms
2. Parent consent
3. Parent ILR
4. Cover Letter

The categories are:
Other
Residence in the UK
Finances
Proof of Business
Medical Information
Sponsors / Employment
Proof of Identity / Travel History
Educational
Proof of Application

Thanks in advance!

Just put everything per the documents required list in category "Other". Caseworkers know what they are looking at.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.
