Good Character Requirement

Post by henshaw86 » Mon Mar 15, 2021 12:20 pm

Hello Everyone

For the attention of the Senior Members - Immigration specialists helpers

I want to find out who knows or have been in a similar situation as me,has a better grasped knowledge and info on subject matter.

I am currently in process of deciding to apply for UK citizenship - filling out the AN application

* I have all the relevant correct documents obtained of PM residence certificate, EU settlement, etc

* My concern is that I have two previous cautions one removed and one (reprimand - youth) - I wish to know what my chances are for a successful outcome of the AN application being approved

* I applied for a record deletion of my previous caution which I thankfully had deleted/completely removed by the ACRO unit on behalf of MPS - Metropolitan Police Service

The offences as follows:

1.) RD/18/01443 = Burglary and theft – non-dwelling on 12/07/2001 - Reprimand Warning - Age 15 youth - term served 20 years ago

2.) RD/18/01451 = Common assault on 25/07/2009 - Caution term served 12 years ago almost. Age 23

3. RD/18/01452 = Dishonestly retaining a wrongful credit on 24/05/2013 - 8 years almost - caution deleted - completely removed from my record. Age 27

* these offences were non custodial and not convictions but cautions served as a warning, I was never sent to court as well.

As i have had my previous caution removed which leaves me with one caution and one youth reprimand both being warnings only, do i stand a better chance of being approved

secondly must I mention my previous caution which has now been officially deleted from my record and the police national database archives.

If anyone who understands these sort of cases of individuals with same or similar circumstances can you please best advice me further.

Thank you all very much for your help and support in the matter.

Looking forward to hearing from you very soon

Kind Regards

It seems you are a repeated offender which sometimes becomes difficult as home office takes it very seriously. If you have improved your charcater ,started living a normal life ,work & contribute to the economy then all this can add to your good character & application can have more chances be approved if apply 10 years from last time when you stopped committing crimes which are on record.

Hi there

Yes I certainly understand this part well and fact of matter is I have strong valid points of having a good character from various reference key points that fit the criteria as a general condition.

some key factors are

1. I have worked as employed & self employed all verified with HMRC with Income tax & N.I
2. I have no civil debts,county courts CCJ,IVA,bankruptcies,insolvency to my name,no fines
3. I am an active member and volunteer for several charity organisations

but I am still contemplating about how to proceed with the application, would be nice to get some insight from any other senior members or individuals who have been granted their citizenship based on having any caution or cautions in the past going back 12,20 years and my previous one 8 years deleted from my record.

* I am very eager to send my application off but if i wait another 2 years it will be 10 years term served since last one was charged with but now deleted so what would someone else do if were or have been in my situation or similar circumstances.

Will appreciate all your feedback

Thank you all

Kind Regards

You should declare all 3 cautions. For Naturalisation purpose, no conviction (caution is an out of court conviction too) is considered spent so you must declare it. Since they are older than 3 years old and your record is clear for that period, you should not have any issues. Good luck.

You will stand better chance if you declare the three of them and possibly add a cover letter to enumerate your charity work and the employment and tax paid over the years to show you have been contributing positively to the society.
