EU settled housewife applying for naturalisation

Post by salsarocks » Fri Apr 02, 2021 7:17 pm

Hello,

EEA housewife with EU settled status - she has never worked here in UK (last 10 years) and never held CSI; married to British Citizen who is the only one working in the household.

Will naturalisation application be successful for her or you foresee any issues?

Thank you!

Work as such is not a requirement.
What can your wife provide in terms of residency proof, for the five years?
Consider: council tax bills with her name included, Child Benefit notifications, Pensions P60 (if in payment), other official notifications (HMRC, DWP, other government departments?

Not sure if council tax bills for last 3 years is enough. This is the requirement:

Does a housewife belong to any of these categories?

As far as I understand: your wife is your EU family member with you being her sponsor (exercising treaty rights).
We'll probably need other members' experience for this - otherwise EU citizens' wifes/mothers/unemployed could never apply.

This hopefully answers re. your wife's application.
Refer to page 28 of this document:
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... 7.0ext.pdf
Quote:
"You must assess whether the individual has been here lawfully during their 3 or 5
year residential period prior to pre-settled status or settled status, by considering on
the balance of probabilities whether they were here:
• as a qualified person (such as a worker, student, self-employed, selfsufficient, retired or incapacitated person)
as the family member of such a person"
