Missing Decision Letter for Child Under 18

Post by haffeys » Mon Apr 26, 2021 6:22 pm

Hi everyone,

I am trying to figure out if I am just being overly paranoid or if there is a real reason to be concerned. I moved here in 2015 with my daughters (both under 18) on a Tier 2: General visa.

During the 5 year process, my oldest daughter decided to move back to the states and lives there now but my younger daughter and I stayed here. At the end of the 5-year requirement, we applied for ILR and were approved. Upon checking my emails for the ILR, both my daughter and I's decision emails came within a matter of moments of one another.

Because I am married to a British Citizen, I was able to apply for Naturalization immediately after receiving the ILR (vs waiting 12 months). As of this past Saturday, I received an email with the decision informing me that my application was successful. I did not receive anything about my daughter's application. This is where I am concerned because I was approved but my daughter has not been approved (yet?). Is this common to have a parent get approved and have a child not or just not receive a decision email for the child?

Are there any others who took this same path and can tell me how your process went?

Thank you in advance.

Nothing to worry. It is normal. Each application is independent and processed on its own merits.

You will receive approval email/post for your daughter soon too. Also, her registration certificate will be posted to your home address. She will become British from the date on the registration certificate. Note, some members reported not receiving any approval email but directly received the registration certificate at home for the child.

However, in your own case, you will need to attend a ceremony in due course. You will only become British at the date of the ceremony.
