Exceptional circumstances - visit visa

Post by amjsingh » Mon May 03, 2021 6:37 pm

My mother's visit visa expires on 10th May 2021. She has been here for six months and her six months visa will expire on this date.

She suffers from Parkinson's disease. She is very weak and completely immobile. I am caring for her full time here. When I goto work I have a carer who comes and sees to her. My father who lives in Mumbai is a drunk and is absolutely unable to look after my mother, which was the reason I wanted to bring my mother to UK in the first place. The idea being I would be applying for her residency in UK in near future. But due to work commitments I was unable to put together an application for her permanent residency.

Now with Covid ravaging through India I fear that she is highly vulnerable and taking her back to get her visa renewed may be a fatal mistake.

What are the chances of getting a visit visa renewed while in the UK?
At the end of the next six months I will be putting in an application for an adult dependent visa for her.

I understand that normally this would not be possible hoping there is a way under current exceptional circumstances.

Why not apply for an ADR visa directly?

I am worried that since her visa expires on 10th of May I only have six days to put together an application for ADR. Putting together an application in such tight time space means it may not be as water tight as I would like it to be.

Please let me know if my logic is wrong. Maybe even if something is amiss the home office will ask for additional documents?

I agree with your initial reasoning about applying for exceptional circumstances.

Thanks Simon.

Still unsure about whom to approach and how to apply for this renewal. I will be making calls tomorrow when everything opens but if you or others have any pointers or advice to which application form to use and where to apply please let me know.

I much appreciate any and all advice given here.
