Loss of 'Life in the UK' test pass certificate

Friends,

I have cleared Life in the UK test couple of months back , but lost the pass notification letter. Can any one advise me the options that I have aprt from redoing the test.

Any advice on this is highly appreciated.

Thanks for the advise. I have called the help desk and they confirmed me that i need to retake the test.

Aren't they legally obliged to respond within 40 days to a Subject Access request under the Data Protection Act? (whether they like it or not).

Yes but I do think that although they can look it up on their system they are not obliged to acknowledge it as passed without the certificate available in the application.

If the record shows "pass" or "fail" then they are likely obliged to disclose it in response to a Subject Access Request.

The fact they may not want to is irrelevant.

Yeah but you missed my point.
If he doesnt have the certificate, even if he can prove he has taken the test and passed via SAR, they don't have to accept it without the receipt of the actual certificate

Its just an A4 sheet of paper with just a stamp and confirmation you have passed

If an applicant provides such evidence - which the Home Office can check directly with the source - then they might be on shaky legal grounds to refuse naturalisation.

But we won't really know until someone challenges this.

I also disagree that the HO would be on legal shaky ground to refuse naturalisation.
I see no legal basis that someone providing alternate proof of taking the test that they are required to accept it.
In any case, I don't see it worth the risk even on priciple.
The test is what 30 pounds vs the risk of losing the cost of application of about 800 pounds or whatever it is and the time and aggravation to appeal. The prudent and smartest course is to take the test again at the end of the day.
