Submitting a passport application for my 4 year old but a bit stumped by one question.
I'm british and born here, my wife has been british for 15 years but wasn't born in the UK. Child was born in the UK and holds an existing british passport.
This is for a replacement passport but Section 4 of the passport application has stumped me. I don't know what to put.
So obvisouly my wife was born outside the UK but what good would putting her foreign parents do? Or what claim to British nationality do they need? Perhaps the number of her naturalisation certificate? But isn't the child entitled to a passport based on my citizenship and the fact the child was born in the UK? So why do we need to try and find the naturalisation certficiate? I don't remember doing that for my son's first passport. If either parent was born on or after 1 January 1983, or were born outside the UK, please give the following details in section 8 of the application form. Either:
- the full name, town, country of birth and date of marriage of your mother’s or parent 1’s parents and your father’s or parent 2’s parents,
or
- details of your parents’ claim to British nationality.
