Paid IHS but want to delay application, do I get partial IHS refund

Post by RowanDrive » Sat Jun 26, 2021 8:32 pm

Hi all

I still have 3 years and few days on my current leave to remain (Tier 2 General) and I am applying for a child dependent visa for my newborn.

I realized after paying the IHS that had I waited until I had < 3 years on my visa(6th of July), I would have paid £235 less in IHS. I also would have the application fees halfed. So the savings in total are ~£1000.

I still haven't paid for the application yet. I will wait until I have < 3 years on my visa to see if the website changes how much I am supposed to pay. The question is:

Assuming the application fee is fixed on the current application, will I also get a refund of £235 on IHS? Am I eligible to claim them (especially given that NHS cover kicks AFTER the visa is approved, which is unlikely to happen before I have <3 years anyway).

If this doesn't get me the IHS refund, I am thinking of ignoring this application, start a new one after 6th of July, pay again the IHS (this time less). What do people think about this solution? Do I automatically get the IHS refund from the first application? if yes then when?

Thanks!
