Declaring a second passport from a country that doesn't permit dual nationals

Post by sabretooth123 » Fri Jul 02, 2021 7:31 pm

I am in the process of renewing my British passport. I understand that the UK recognises dual citizenship and that I am required to submit any foreign passports (even if expired).

However, my other passport is from a country which does not permit dual citizenship.

If I declare this foreign passport in the UK, is it possible for them to deny issuance of a new British passport on this basis? Or might they then go away and report my status as a British citizen to this foreign country?

Thank you

HMPO require foreign passport essentially to validate that the name(s) used on your documents are all the same (nat. certificate, foreign and British travel documents/passports. They are not concerned with whether your origin country allows dual nationality or not. Your status is not reported to any foreign government. Refer to HMPO Policy: https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... ationality
