ILR -Dependant background checks( if any)

Hi there lovely people,

I am in the UK on my tier 2 dependant visa and have completed 5 years with the same.
My my wife and kid would like to apply for ILR ASAP, we have got all the documents required for the application.

Here I would like to know what are the background verification done for dependants like me. Will it be done same as the main applicant( Eg. the finances, history of bills etc and the employment) ?

We are 99% sure that all of the finances and employment were all transparent and no action was taken illegally.

I have been hearing form many of my friends that they know about cases where a small mistake in the past ( for not paying correct amount of tax or bills to HMRC) resulted in the rejection of their application and better to go for a solicitor who can help with the application.

With this request, I would like to know what are all the checks made as part of the ILR application for the main application and also dependants. with this details I can cross check and see if anything has gone a wrong way in the last 5 years.

No one knows what checks the UKVI will perform on you when you apply for ILR but they certainly check your criminal records and background. You should not be paranoid as the checks are routine and nothing out of ordinary. I suggest ignoring your friends as their concerns regarding tax issues are very likely limited to stories around the old Tier 1 General route which was abused by some migrants who submitted fraudulent tax returns to secure a visa. This had nothing to do with Tier 2 route. Unless you have actively failed to pay taxes or have outstanding NHS debt, you should not be worried

Thanks a lot for the quick response. Like I said there are no pending taxes that we are aware of. So we will rest assured everything will go fine . Thanks again.
