Hi, hope everyone is doing well. I hope this is the right forum - I've also searched but struggled to find what I was looking for. I'll try to write out my scenario as concisely and clear as possible as it's a little complicated.
Situation: Following the death of my father in 2018, my mother moved from Italy to Canada so that she can live with her relatives. She now wants to move to the UK so that she can be close to myself and my brother. We have a mix of nationalities and circumstances, but are unsure how to proceed without wasting time and money. This is our current set up:
Me: I'm a naturalised British citizen and also hold an Italian passport. I've been in the UK for 15 years.
Brother: He only has an Italian passport and has settled status. He's been in the UK for about 8 years.
Mother: Holds an Italian passport and expired BNO passport. She resides in Canada and is close to Canadian naturalisation.
Questions:
1) We were looking into the BNO route but it says you need to ordinarily reside in Hong Kong. We have a couple of bank statements with HK addresses, but that's it. Is this enough as proof? Does anyone know how much evidence they actually require and how strict they are?
2) From my research, bringing her in through my UK passport is nearly impossible unless she depended on me to live.
3) Is there a possibility that she can enter via my brother's Italian passport and settled status?
I hope the above makes sense and really appreciate any comments or alternative options we should pursue.
Thanks
