Hi all,
I know that a similar issue has been discussed before regarding names on first British passport, but I could not find an answer to my question hence the post.
I have a foreign passport with my name showing as:
Forename
Surname: (Maiden name) SPOUSE (married name)
The country does not allow having married name ONLY on the passport and their law stipulates that married women have to have their surnames as: Maiden name SPOUSE Married name.
I will be applying for a British passport under my married name which is the name I am known for for all proposes (professional board, HMRC, banking, driving licence etc) - I literally have No official document under my maiden name apart from my foreign passport.
My question are:
1/ Would it be possible to get a British passport under my married name only, considering my married name is mentioned on my foreign passport ?
2/ If not, can a British passport be issued as "maiden Spouse married name/ or married name maiden name' or can it only have one name on it (ie: either maiden or married) ?
I would not want a special mention on the passport regarding my foreign passport, is it something I should mention?
Many thanks for any help you may provide!
Cheers
