British passport renewal

Hello all.
Please I need your help. I am about to renew my Son's British passport. However his Nigerian passport is expired. Do I need to renew his Nigerian passport before I apply to renew his British passport?

No - there is no requirement for dual citizens to have a valid foreign passport.
You will be asked to submit any expired and/or current foreign passports
