Same-sex immigration to the UK query...

Post by eras » Sun Oct 26, 2008 7:38 pm

Hi there!

I was wondering if someone could advise me on any possibilities regarding to my situation.

I'm a UK citizen (born here) and I met my partner on holiday in the US 3 years ago. We've been in close contact throughout these 3 years and I managed to go visit him last year, too. However as I am 23 years old it's not been possible to be with him all of the time as I've had to keep a job here and am still living with my family at the moment.

We've discussed the issue a lot and have decided we want to live together, however the USA doesn't seem to like the idea of same-sex visas and him coming to the UK is the only choice for us both. However I've seen that we'd have to have spent 2 years with each other and this has been impossible for us to do. Is there any way I could live with him here in the UK even if we have to prove to the immigration people over time that we are committed?

Thanks! =)
