Please help ILR 10 years

Dear all,
I will be very thankful if someone could illuminate me about the eligibility for ILR based on 10 years lawful residency. I have not been able to apply for it when I was on work permit as rules have been changing whenever I am about to apply.

Visa Type Issue Date Expiry Duration

Student 9/7/98 24/8/99 1 year 1.5 months

Student 14/9/99 31/10/2002 3 years 1.5 months

Work Permit 30/08/2002 30/06/07 4 years 10 months

Student 13/9/06 31/01/06 1 year 4.75 months

HSMP 20/12/07 20/12/09 0 years 10 months

From 9/7/98 till 28th October 2008= 10 years 3.75 months with 'away time' less than 10 months and never exceeding 4-5 weeks at a time.

Especially what do you think of transition from first to second student visa.

It looks like you have a gap between your first and second student visa. Did you apply by post and did you keep proof of posting?

The dates for your third student visa (starting 13/9/06) look a bit wrong.

For the first one, I had to go back to my home country to apply for visa.

The third one Student 13/9/06 31/01/06 starts from 13/9/06 as I quit the job after 4 year 2 month but it ends on31/01/07 instead of 31/01/06.

If you think, there is a break between first and second, do you think it is worth applying next year 14th August 2009 (a month before 10 years), when I will complete 1o year barring the first student visa? And what is a SAR file by the way?

As you got your second student visa after the expiry of the first one, it is a gap. Applying on 14/9/09 - 28 days is a better option but watch out for the coming changes in the immgration rules, especially for 10-year ILR.

SAR is a subject access request. Do a google search on it.

Paulp any thoughts on 'changes in the immgration rules, especially for 10-year ILR,?

Seems like I am always missing by one year.
