Hi all,
Its allmost six months now. I have got SAR documents with me showing my entry date in Feb 2003 on my previous(lost) passport. Also VISA stamp on my second passport is 5th Dec 2003. I have got a family PEO appointment for 2nd December. We had a baby coming along (born in UK few months back) so i couldn't apply earlier.

Now issue is I have got the passport of the baby. I am on work permit. Will my baby need a work permit dependent VISA before we go for ILR on 2nd Dec.

Thanks and best regards,
Sunil

Why it happens to me

Post by mishragreat » Thu Dec 04, 2008 11:13 am

OK, For everyones info I am updating what happened.
The case worker looked at my application form and then file. Asked me questions which were basically confirmation of what i have written on application. Then she tried to do somehing and said she cant give PR as system is not allowing her to do so. My file has been opened by someone and cant be sorted in a same day service. Then she said she will try once more. She asked me if i made any application with Home office this year. I said I went for PEO Croydon in March and also applied for SAR in March. She said it may be becuase of that. After that she said she cant. What i need to do is send by post. She arranged all the documents and asked me to make postal application and then returned the docs to me.
1. I had 198 days out of country mentioned on my request
2. My wife is on dependent VISA
3. My child doesnt have a visa but she said send the birth certificate with the application form.

It make me think... Why me?

No... The did not charged me anything at PEO appointment. However after sending the ILR application by post I got acknowledge letter from HO dated 3rd December 2008 in the same week.
Its now about 40days since i had submitted my application. It has started to worry me. Apart from writting the letter does anyone know the phone number on which i can contact them to get a status update.

No updates till date. There website says they deal with 90% application in 70 working day. I am thinking of waiting till mid of March unless some senior member like Paul or Victoria advises me to Contact them.

Finally

Post by mishragreat » Thu Mar 19, 2009 10:34 am

Yesterday I called Home Office on 08706067766 . After repeated attempts finally i got connected to enquiry department. ( It took me about 10-15 continous redial attempt at three different occasions ).
She advised me that it is still under consideration.

And today I recieved passport of meself and my family with ILR stamp on it.

Thanks to everyone on the Board. Special thank to Paul and Victoria. I am not sure if they are still active but thanks fellas.

Congrats on your ILR.

Question, when you applied for it did you use the date of entry with the missing passport, i.e. July? or the replacement passport dated from Oct 2003 ?

Thanks Tee Bee,
Date of Entry I used on my application was that from missing passport(Feb 2003). Also I carried whole SAR data when i appeared in person. The lady at counter at the time said that just send SAR pages dealing with missing passport and entry date while making application.

Another thing to note is Allthough i got the PR letter yesterday via next day special delivery my passport shows PR was stamped around 20th Feb 2009

So you would suggest a postal application ?

Did you also submit a letter to explain that your initial passport was missing? Can I ask what documents you submitted to the HO ?

Lastly, when did you submit your application again? and how long did for them to process it?

Cheers

Tee Bee
I sent following docs at the time of application
1. 3 months pay slip
2. Same 3 month bank statements
3. Letter from employer
4. Passport of me and dependents
5. Birth certificate of my daughter as she had no visa on her passport(born in UK)
6. Two pages from SAR one had my old passport number. Other had xerox of my landing card in feb 2003
7. two photographs of each of us.
8. Pre-paid Special delivery envelop
9. A covering letter mentioning each of those docs and application form.

The problem is waiting and the thought coming to your mind that Royal Mail may have lost my passport. I was not aware in the begining that it takes at least 3 month so i was a bit itchy for between month 1 and 2. But then i cooled down

If u have no travel plans there is nothing wrong in saving £200+ (it turns out lot more if u include travel and other expenses)

Thanks for the reply again.

Can you share with us what was written in the covering letter and the employer letter?

Did you indicate to the HO on your missing passport when filling in the application form?
