ILR Application and Right to Work

Post by adz92 » Mon Jan 10, 2022 10:04 am

Hi,

I am here in the UK on an ancestry visa that expires on January 13th. I applied for ILR on December 27th, and am awaiting a decision (unfortunately I had to use standard service as priority wasn't available, which is very frustrating). I am working as normal right now, but my current employer is asking for my right to work while the application is pending. I used this (https://www.gov.uk/prove-right-to-work) site but its still showing as expiring on the 13th. I've been told by HR that without a 'share code' that states my eligibility to work, I will lose my job on Thursday. Is there anything I can do so I can ensure I can keep working?

ask your employer to check your right of work:
https://www.gov.uk/employee-immigration ... ent-status

I have and they see the same thing as I do, expiring on the 13th.

Your employer should perform right to work checks and get a positive response from UKVI using your application number (UAN) via Employer Checking Service: https://www.gov.uk/employee-immigration ... ent-status
The Home Office will send you a ‘Positive Verification Notice’ to confirm that the applicant has the right to work. You must keep this document.
Make sure you do NOT confuse the service above with this one: https://www.gov.uk/prove-right-to-work

OK, thank you very much! Do you know if this is updated when the ILR application is made?

It will be but you should NOT rely on these links to check your application status.

Thanks again. From what I gather there is no way to check the status of you application at all, correct?
