English requirements for Tier2 extension

Post by Bilalhassan148 » Sat Jan 22, 2022 4:46 pm

Hi Experts,

I have a couple of questions regarding my Tier2 visa extension.

1- Are there any English language requirements for Tier2 visa extension like I did IELTS on the first application which is now expired?
2- I will be applying under the same job SOC (2135) and the same company so that means I have fulfilled the requirements already for English?
3- My kids are Born in this country and don't have any visas yet so do I need to pay their IHS for the previous years or only for the new visa duration if I apply for them?

I would be really grateful if someone can answer the above with references because I was unable to find any on the HO website.

Thanks,
Bilal

Tier 2 (General) is now Skilled worker.

Points for the English language requirement (mandatory)
SW 7.1. An applicant must show English language ability on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in all 4 components (reading, writing, speaking and listening) of at least level B1 (intermediate).

SW 7.2. The applicant must show they meet the English language requirement as specified in Appendix English Language.

SW 7.3. If the requirements in SW 7.1. to SW 7.2. are met, the applicant will be awarded 10 mandatory points for meeting the English language requirement.

Hi Vinny,

I would like to" understand this,
"An applicant will meet the English language requirement if they have already shown they met the requirement, at the level required for their current application, in a previous successful application for entry clearance or permission to stay."

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration ... pplication

I am not clear if HO is saying you don't have to if you have already met the condition in your previous application or something else?

Thanks,
Bilal
