Original Grandmother's Indian Passport?

I hope someone can help. I am a UK citizen citizen by birth as is my son who is aged 26. I used my mother's Indian passport to get my OCI a couple of years ago but cannot find the passport! I wish to apply for an OCI for my son; I have a photopcopy of my mother's Indian passport - will the photocopy be enough or does it need to be the original Indian passport? Thanks in advance.

You can make the application using your mothers passport photocopy, though at times, they do check the original at the appointment.

Further, if you or your wife were an indian citizen or held indian passport at any time you can use that for the application as well.
