British citizen getting married to an Indian citizen in India

Post by prasad_1 » Mon Feb 14, 2022 12:08 pm

Hi,
Last year I got British citizenship via naturalisation route.
I am getting married to an Indian girl in India in April.

From the lawyers in India, I got the info that they need No Objection Certificate (NOC) or Marriage Status Certificate from the UK govt./embassy.

When I contacted authority, they told me that they dont provide these letters for India anymore.

Can someone please help me about what documents should I provide in absence of above documents?

Has anyone gone through same process?

Thanks in advance.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Also see this guide and these two letters issued by the British High Commission in India on the Gov.UK website.

You could pass these on to your lawyers and ask them to advise you further.

Thanks for the reply.
I have sent the link to the lawyer.

However, I also wanted to check if anyone has gone through similar situation and what did they do.
