ILR Documents and Information: Global talent route

Post by userNaN » Wed Feb 23, 2022 12:56 am

Hi all,

I'm applying for an ILR through the global talent route and was hoping for some help with the documents and information requirements:

The applications states:
Please provide full contact details that will allow each of the documents provided to be verified if necessary.

Some of the documents I need to submit (to show that I have earned money in my field) include:
  • Personal bank statements on official bank stationery, showing payments made from your employer. If you are submitting electronic bank statements these must be accompanied by a supporting letter from the bank on official bank stationery which confirm that the statements are authentic or every page must bear the official stamp of the issuing bank.
  • A document produced by HM Revenue & Customs that shows details of declarable taxable income on which tax has been paid or will be paid in a tax year, such as a tax refund letter or tax demand
(The application requires me to submit a Consent for the Home Office to verify application information)

Could you please help me with these questions:
  1. I called HMRC and they've said that they can only provide me with a document for the previous tax year. They've also said that they cannot provide me with the contact of anyone for verification. I am using the document downloaded from HMRC with the information on the current tax year's Income Tax and National Insurance paid. Will this document suffice, or am I missing something? What can I do about the verification contact for HMRC? Can I assume that the Home Office will have a way of verifying this? I am planning to add a note saying that I've filled in the consent form for them to get this information from HMRC - does that make sense?
  2. About the bank statements: I am submitting the statements that I ordered from Barclays because they have a stamp on every page. However, the people I spoke to at the bank say that they can't give me the contact details of a person for verification. I am planning to go back and ask them for the manager's contact - I was wondering if anyone had suggestions about this? My bank is Barclays.
  3. Finally, this last one is a slightly stupid/paranoid question, but after getting my PhD I left my bank account with "Mr" instead of changing it to "Dr". My other documents (letter from employer) have "Dr" on them and my expert field on my Global Talent Visa requires a PhD. To change this, I need to take my PhD certificate to the branch, get my title changed and then reorder my bank statements which will take another 7 working days to get delivered. Is this worth it or does it not matter? I thought it won't matter, but wanted to cross check?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

There is no specific evidence under the rules, so what you are aiming for is enough:
Applicant has earned money in the UK in their field
The Immigration Rules (paragraph GT 13.1) do not require specific evidence to meet
this requirement. Applicants can provide any evidence as long as it is from an
independent source which can be verified if required. The Global Talent website
gives a list of potential forms of evidence they may choose to provide, but this is not
exhaustive.

If the applicant provides a different form of evidence, you can choose to accept this if
you are content that it is independent and demonstrates they have earned money in
the UK in their expert field during their last permission. If you are not satisfied with
the evidence provided, you must contact the applicant to give them the opportunity to
provide a further acceptable form of evidence.

Thank you very much @Zimba, that's very helpful!

Getting a verification contact from my bank is turning out to be extremely difficult. They've asked me to put down the customer support number and I doubt the home office will have the patience to wait if they want to verify statements!

Some branches seem to be able to stamp and sign the statements, and the person who signs also gives their direct number for verification - but I can't seem to get them to do that! Frustrating ...

Hi, I am no expert but I have just received ILR via the same route. I have provided: a letter from my accountant who verified my earnings, as well as payslips of my business.
