BRP RC processing time

Post by Harrycrr » Thu Feb 24, 2022 2:26 am

Hi guys,

I wanted to ask the following. What is the standard processing timeframe for a replacement BRP settled status card. I applied in the UK on 13/12/21 and had appointment for biometric on 10/01/22. Still heard nothing.

I’m getting confused as to whether it took 8 weeks or 6 months. I seem to remember reading somewhere it was 6 months but can’t find this now.

Any comments will be greatly appreciated

Thanks for the reply :)

Just to check, I’m referring to a replacement rather than normal application. So that is also up to 6 months? Do you happen to know if it starts counting from moment I paid the fee, or the moment I did the appointment.

Hi, Yes it is 6 months for the settled status and its probably from the moment u paid the fee since thats when you actually submit the documents.

Hi thanks guys for the replies :)

I’m in a position where I am about to have to get a new job urgently and I while I have the right to work. I’m wondering if employers (hospitality) will treat me with hassle if I can’t prove my right easily. They have to go through the checking process, is there a sub forum for this conversations? Just wondering if anyone has any practical experience of this.

Employers do have a responsibility to check your status or they become liable to fine and possibly other sanctions if employing someone whose status is unverifiable. They should be aware of how to go about the checks.
Any reason Why you feel your right to work be easily verifiable?

I just mean, I’m going to be going for rather basic work at the moment. Hospitality to be precise. And I’m concerned that as I can’t easily produce my BRP as it’s been stolen. They will have to conduct a check that may seem like a hassle for them, why hire me when they can just hire someone who has all the documentation. Just bit concerned to be honest, and as I’m a Russian passport holder I’m even more concerned I may face further issues like discrimination. Just very uncertain times at the moment

I applied for the replacement as well. My UKCAS appointment was in 7th Dec and still waiting.

I called to UKVI and they said employer can call directly to them to approve the right to work status.
