Change Job on Stamp 1 - Critical Skills

Post by spba » Sat Mar 26, 2022 1:31 pm

Hello - I have a peculiar situation and need help

I am on Stamp 1 Critical Skills. I wish to change my job, as I dont like my current job. My new employer cannot wait 4 months to process my permit.
1)Can I leave my job and become Stamp 1G(dependent of my wife who is a CSEP holder) ? to join my new job?
2)Whats the process to do that ?
3)Will the movement from Stamp 1 to Stamp 1G adversly impact my naturalisation chances in any way?

Please help

1)If your spouse has a CSEP, you can certainly move to 1G.
2) Apply with their CSEP, marriage certificate, passport, private medical insurance and current IRP either online, if in Dublin or in person, if not. You might have some explaining to do, but this is theoretically possible. I would advise you got get a 1G before you leave your current job, if such, so your reckonable residence is certainly not impacted.
3) No idea. If you do it right and you won't have gaps in your registration, shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks. I am assuming Stamp 1G (dependent of CSEP) is considered for as reckonable residence for naturalisation.

You'd have to wait for 5 years before Stamp 4 though, since you're a dependent, compared to 21 months on work permit, so just be aware.

Ya. I am guessing I will also be eligible for naturalisation in 5 years. Or is there any rule that I have to be Stamp 4 for certain number of years before being able to apply for naturalisation ?

Nope, as long as you have your 5 years on stamps that count, which include 1G, and adhere to other conditions, you're good to go. I think you'll be fine on 1G unless you want to start a business (and a few other restrictions).
