unpaid clinical observership

Post by Vaish1992 » Fri Apr 01, 2022 7:17 am

Dear all,
I have received an opportunity to take up unpaid clinical observership in order to work in an Irish hospital. I am currently registered with IMC and an Indian citizen graduated from Hungary. Could someone help me please in knowing what type of Visa am I required to apply for, for the same? any help or guidance will be much appreciated.
Thanking you
Dr. Vaishnavi

Hey!
If I understand this correctly (you'll not be working here, a self-sufficient person) - Stamp 0 is the option, I reckon (since it's unpaid and you won't be doing any actual work).
To apply for Stamp 0 you need to send them a letter and be allowed to get it, the info is here.
Not a qualified immigration adviser. Use links and references given to gain confirmation and/or extra information.

Hello thanks for the reply, you're really helpful.
What will be the type of visa I'd require, I'm a non-Eu citizen.
Thank you again,
Vaishnavi

That’s wrong. Unpaid work is still work and the OP is required to register with the Medical Council for the role. The OP will still be counted as an employee. All non-EU workers in the health settings must register with the Medical Council and must obtain an employment permit, regardless of their position/role, except for those who have Stamp 4.

Ireland does not accept non-EU doctors who come to Ireland for the sole purpose of having clinics observerships. You must either obtain a paid occupation allowed by DETE, or obtain a separate permission that would have allowed you to participate in that (e.g. study visa).

8. Observerships

In line with current policy, immigration permission will not be granted to a doctor offered the post of observership in either private or public hospitals.

hi,

I have a valid IMC registration but do not have experience in the Irish hospitals, thus the hospital allowed me to take up this observership. also, my husband has secured a job in a Pharma company, hence the what the requirement for the visa is.
