police registration certificate not up to date

Post by sm3456 » Thu Apr 14, 2022 6:16 pm

Hi

I am currently on a student visa and my visa conditions require me to register with police. I registered on time when i first entered and also updated police the two times i moved addresses. However, my BRP was stolen a few months back and I applied for and received a replacement, but did not know I needed to update the police (I thought since it's only a replacement card and not a new visa or extension i didnt need to update but now I understand I should've). I immediately booked an appointment to update but the appointment date is all the way in September 2022.

My problem is that I will be switching to a Skilled worker visa in July (from within the UK) and my understanding is that an up to date police registration certificate is required. In this case, what do I do?

Furthermore, the application form asks the following question:

"Have you ever:

entered the UK illegally
remained in the UK beyond the validity of your visa or permission to stay
breached the conditions of your leave, for example, worked without permission or received public funds when you did not have permission
given false information when applying for a visa, leave to enter, or leave to remain
breached UK immigration law in any other way"

Would I be required to answer "yes" to this question due to my situation specified above? And if so, would that lead to the rejection of my application?

Thank you in advance.

Submit certificate together with the appointment letter and a cover letter explaining. It's not a big problem. You don't need to answer yes to that question just because of this.

Thanks a lot for your response. Do you think it may be considered deception if I answer no to the question though, considering that part of the police registration condition is that visa holders must notify police of changes within 7 days, which i didn't manage to do in this case?

I have done some more research on this and from what I read, I think registering with the police (upon first entering the UK) is the actual condition and because I've done that then I don't think I should answer 'yes' to the immigration breach question.

However, I am really not sure at all, I'd appreciate any input please?

See ywlg post, you also made further research, the decision to be made on declaring or not lies with you not on the numbers of inputs you get.

Thank you. I am just going to do as ywlgy advised and hope for the best!
