MaidaValeNewbie wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 10:09 pmHi all
I got ILR in April last year and would like to apply for citizenship in April this year.
Two questions on day count - grateful for any advice you can give!:
1. I came back from a trip to Spain a few weeks ago. My plane landed at Stansted at 11:30pm on Sunday evening but I didn't get through the electronic passport barriers until after midnight on Monday morning. What day did I technically "arrive" in the UK? Does this add an extra day to my day count? Yes - In my opinion one arrives in the UK when you cross the border through manned control/egates, so in this case on the Monday morning. Certainly at Heathrow there's a sign saying "UK Border".
2. in addition, there is the possibility I will go over my 90 day outside the UK allowance (not by much, I'd still be less than 100) by the time I'd like to apply in April. Does this matter? I've read somewhere that so long as I'm under 100, it's probably okay.
Up to 100 days normally disregarded, per guidance. For peace of mind you could add a covering note explaining. https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... rom-the-uk
Anyway, thanks again for any help!
Best
Me too. I hear your pain.MaidaValeNewbie wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 12:41 pmI've had a few different visas over the years (student, Tier 2, partner).
Collect as much information as possible, to the best of your abilities. A 100% full grid of data is not necessary, but do your best, at least for application/reference numbers (exact dates are less important). This might speed up their process when checking your immigration history.Looking through my records, I can't actually find the answers to some of the questions they are asking.
For instance, I'm often not sure of the exact date of the application (I know for certain the year!), the reference number, whether the application was made in the UK or whether fingerprints were taken as part of the application (and, if so, the date).
For several of these, I am prompted to answer "if known", so I suppose it's not too important there if I don't know the answer, but for "Was this application made in the UK?" and "Were your fingerprints taken as part of this application", this is not an option. Also, even if I know the application was not made in the UK, in some instances I don't recall where the application was made (I would have posted it off to the relevant consulate), which is the next question.
I'm uncertain what to do if I don't really know the answers here. I've requested all the information the UKVI has on me and the records they provided (which I believe is everything they have) are not complete.
No. If they were cancelled then they were not applications. In addition, on two occasions I applied, cancelled and re-applied for a visa (I found errors in the application and thought I should cancel) - do I need to list any cancelled applications?
Of this meant you applied and got a visa, then yes, best to include it.Finally, I participated on the BUNAC scheme (a 6-month work permit for recent university grads) in 2004. Do I need to include this as well? This is before I came to the UK permanently in 2010.
Yes, I noticed that it's a different reference when you apply within the UK and when you apply abroad. Give whatever number you have, and if at all possible, the application date. Again, just make your best effort but don't lose sleep over one tiny detail missing. The important thing is to give the big picture and evidence that you have kept to the terms of yuour visas and permits, and that you justify how you are in the UK up until now.MaidaValeNewbie wrote: ↑Thu Apr 21, 2022 1:14 pmFor the references numbers, do they mean UANs? I think those are the ones that are 16 digit or 16 digit with a "/00" at the end.
Some of the numbers I have start with GWF and aren't 16 digit - is that a UAN? would this count as a reference number?
Finally, if I don't have a UAN/GWF number, can I put the number that was at the top right of my relevant BRP card?
Travel per se after the submission and before/after biometrics is allowed (unlike for certain immigration applications, which naturalisation is not).MaidaValeNewbie wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 10:59 amI believe the answer is yes, but I'm having trouble confirming this.
Thank you.
Referee documents are fine dated either before or after application date.MaidaValeNewbie wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 10:24 amIn addition, I presume it's fine if the referee letters are dated after the application date?
You do. It's at the end of the naturalisation application form. Not your fault, you are not the only one confused. See this this post.
MaidaValeNewbie wrote: ↑Thu May 05, 2022 8:40 amSorry, this relates to my query, too! So, for those given the go ahead to use IDV, for the consent forms and referee forms, these just need to be uploaded and no hard copies required/nothing to be posted - is that correct? Yes - none of the documents need to be posted.
5am1224 didn't mention that they had uploaded the referee forms so I just want to be sure.
Again, I suppose these can all go under "Other". Upload everything into "Other" - caseworkers know what they are looking for/at.
Thanks!
