Driving offence & naturalisation

Hello,
I had a driving offence in January, basically am a taxi driver and was on motorway with a friend who was driving my taxi as he is also a taxi driver from same council as me and we both hold comprehensive insurance. So we misunderstood that we could drive each other’s taxi and he was giving me a break on wheel. He was on 70 on a 60 variable limit and I got a letter, after nominating him it turns out I am at fault as well for allowing him to drive. Now the case will go to court and don’t know what the outcome will be.
I am in the process of applying for naturalisation and the police says this case can be only settled in court, I still haven’t got the date of court or anything yet.
What should I do now? Should I wait to apply or should I wait for court case to get over or should I apply and once the outcome comes from court then send a cover letter explaining the case.
Will this incident affect my naturalisation application?

Can I please add to this thread as my case is similar. I am in the process of applying for naturalisation however have recently been fined by court for CD10. Although the police charged me with speeding and cd10 the judge based on my good character and clean record only charged me with CD10 5 points and £300 fine. My solicitor is advising me to write a cover letter explaining the circumstances of the incident as it was not an incident involving anyone and the only traffic offence in my history.

From what I have read, I feel regardless of my clean record my application will be refused based on the 3 year rule for the non custodial sentence and being fined by the court. Has any one had there application approved for naturalisation with a recent court fine or CD10. Thank you

Please first of all keep in touch about your application process if you apply, My solicitor says I should apply and attach a letter of apology which he will draft and explain everything in detail, on top of that I still haven’t recieved the date of court yet, so he says that it could be in favour that I have mentioned this issue even though it’s not gone in court yet. So I am applying next week to see what the outcome will be. He says I won’t be banned for 10 years as I will be honest about the issue and bring to light when applying. So I am not deceiving HO.
So when are you applying and you have already recieved the outcome from court. So let me know when you would apply and what would be the outcome.
Worst come worst my lawyer says I will have to wait for another 3 years if my application is rejected, so options I have is to wait for 3 years to apply or just take a chance and apply and see if it’s considered.

I’m still unsure what to expect, my solicitor says they can apply discretion so hoping they do or will. Worst case we loose the fee.

I hope some one from the board can advise if anyone with a recent court conviction for a traffic offence has been naturalised!

I met my solicitor as well and he replied the same, he said he will draft a cover letter and if it’s refused then have to wait, he said if it’s refused then they tell you when to apply again.

I can’t even find a decent solicitor to speak with lol. Seems like no one is interested these days. Anyways I’m thinking to wait and withdraw my application to get my fee back. Let me know what happens with your case please maybe I will get some hope to reapply
