FORM SET M - Not enough letters for proof of address....?

Post by bigboy » Fri Nov 07, 2008 12:16 pm

Hi,

on the form set m, it asks for 6 letter ranging over the last two years and from three different sources,

The most i can find for the first year for my wife is two letters from the same source (jobcentreplus), iv got a few for the second year but only two for the first and the same for my self,

iv only got 1 bank statement, and one phone bill for 2006...

We did have medical letters etc.. but my wife thought keeping so many letters was untidy and she has thrown all the older ones away... :(

What is the best solution for this...?

or will i have to write a letter of explanation, if so what should i write...? that we have thrown them away?

thanks

Anything from the doctors(medical card/Drs /hospital letter)

What about Council ( Council Tax, Library card, letter from any Council office)

Bank - ( statements, mortgage )

Shopping ( Stores/finanace compnay )

Government - ( Child Benefit/ Jobs Centre plus etc, Driving Licence/ road Tax)
Utilities - ( gas/Electric/ Water/ Phone/Mobile )

I find it difficult to believe that you cant find 6 documents to send off. Did you not bother to collate all this well before applying?

im ok as i have got all my bank statements ordered from the bank..

but for my wife, she has thrown away all her medical letters / appointment letters.

the only one i have for her is her electoral vote for this year april and her national insurance number for last year...

would it be best if i just give a letter of explanation...

I only found out a few months ago that she needs letters dating back 2yrs...

thanks

my wife, she has thrown away all her medical letters / appointment letters.
How about NHS Medical card
Her Bank statements
Her Credit card statements
Any letter from HM Revenue
Any correspondence from college/University
Letter from local Council
DVLA
Any appointment letters from GP (NHS)
Any appointment letters for any tests
The list is very long... but I am sure you can find some letters on her name. I will be very suprised if you have nothing at all. Please also note that it used to be 20 documents now reduced to just 6.

I wouldnt think that would suffice. You have to produce the documents if you are going to be succesful.

What about applying for say a job with the council. they will send you an application with a covering letter with your wifes name on it. That cann be one doc.

Apply for a provisonal driving licence for your wife ( licence can be used as one of the docs.)

Apply for a mail order catalougue . Apply for a course at a local college, the correspondence you get should be ok.

get your wife to go the doctors and ask them for copies for any letters that they might have sent to your wife.

Hope some of these ideas work. if you cant do this, then you better start praying because then only God can help you.

Hi,

I dont think you understand....

I have about 9 letters on my wifes name with the address, but all of them are for this year only,

What im saying is that, i only have 1 letter dated for the first year she was in UK, this is because she has thrown them away...

I have on her name:

HM Customs Revenue - Name and address
National Insurance - Name and address
Bank Statement - Name and address
NHS Letter - Name and address

Plus a few more... but they are dated for this year,

I looked on the SET M form and it says the letter must range for the two years, but i only have them for this year...

do you understand?

so i do have letter in her name, but none for 2007, only 2008...

thanks

Hi

Now we are getting somewhere. Had your last post being your first one, then I am sure most people would have understood the problem you are having.

You say your wife did recieve some letters but she threw them away. Do you know where these letters from. If you do go back to whoever sent them to you, and ask them if you they could give you the copies, as they were important and you need them for some personal reasons. Most of these people keep copies of letters on your file or computer and they will in most cases send them to you.

You only need2/3letters plus what you have already got. It should be enough to meet the requirement for SET M. You can then send a letter explaiing that these are the only docs you could find.

They require these documents as proof that you and your wife have been living together, because in some cases some dont live together,

Hope this now helps you.

What you dont understand is that the HO has reduced the number of letters required. You need to come up with them
