Family Visa/FLR M Renewal without passport

Post by zaref » Wed Jun 08, 2022 6:46 am

Hi guys,

I am in a bit of pickle as I’m due to renew my FLR M/Family visa for the second and last time on the 14/07/2022.

I have sent my Canadian passport for renewal via mail however they are advising of significant delays. I am worried that I may not get my passport back on time for my renewal.

I was wondering if anyone knows or had a similar experience before? I have PDF scans of my old passport which was valid until Nov 22 and was used in my previous application. However, I haven’t got it physically as it’s been sent for renewal. Would mentioning this in my application or cover letter help?

Would appreciate any advice or information you may have to offer, thanks.

You still have 5 weeks to go, fingers crossed, you might get it on time.
Smart to have PDF scans at hand as only soft copies are required. I hope you have copies of all pages as well, even the blank pages?
Good the requirement is to have a valid passport. Your passport is valid until it expires or it's cancelled. It defo wouldn't expire before you apply and you'd get a new one I guess if it's cancelled.
Over here in the UK, we get our new passports first before you get your cancelled one returned to you.
Feel free to mention it in your cover letter. It would be obvious it needs renewal anyways.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

I believe I still have the scans of my passport that I uploaded online via UKVCAS for my last application. I can’t remember if they asked to see my passport physically at the biometrics appointment but I’ll use the same one as last time hoping they haven’t changed the requirements and mention in my cover letter that it has been sent for renewal. Thanks for the advice!

It won't be asked to be checked physically. Upload the scan copies you have and you will be alright.
