Gap in IRP renewal due to current delays

I had a set date for my naturalisation application with no gaps in my Irish residence permit but a recent issue has occurred. I live in Dublin so I applied for an IRP renewal in the online website. I have applied in the 31st of March 2022 because the website stated that one can only apply 1 month before expiry and my expiration date was the 29th of April 2022. The process for application was very delayed and they said that it would take up to 9-10 working weeks to be processed. I recently got my IRP 10 working weeks later and there is a gap stating that the date of issue is 13th June 2022. I don’t know what to do about this gap in my Irish Residency Permit, I have read that the Minister of Justice has extended immigration permissions to 31st of May 2022. Will this extension help fill in the gaps for my citizenship application?

(With the gaps filled by the extension, I will have 12 days gap in my residency permit rather than 44 days)

Few notes and suggestions below:

1. Add extra days before applying for citizenship, if you have missing 12 days, apply a month later so they won't send your application back with missing days. Waiting for an extra month won't hurt you, but will be safe play for your application.

2. Your IRP is considered renewed when you place in your application, this is mentioned in INIS website, so you are considered legal resident starting from your application date. And you are counted as resident till 31st of May anyways. Just retain your receipts and records to prove you placed your application in timely manner.

3. Mention this when you are writing cover letter for your application add the receipts and confirmation emails to prove that you applied for renewal in time.

It's nothing to worry about, just to be double safe and preventing delays in your application. For the record, I had no valid IRP card (INIS auto extended residence permit days) for 4 months during Covid because Garda stations were closed. I mentioned this to my solicitor and she asked me to write a letter about it and so far it wasn't a problem. But to be sure I waited extra 4 months before applying

If your employee’s IRP card has expired and they are unable to obtain a valid registration card by 31 May 2022, they are still legally permitted to remain in the State provided they show proof that they have applied to renew their registration and are waiting for it to be processed.

I assume you have no gaps as your application was under processing, but no harm mentioning this in your cover letter when you apply.
