Letters of support from family and friends

Post by alex928 » Thu Jun 16, 2022 10:12 pm

My fiance and I are applying for a Fiance Visa for her to come to live in the UK with me. We met while she was working in the UK, but has since moved back to Japan when her work secondment was cut short. We have maintained a long distance relationship for over 4 years and have met up with each other regularly in the UK and Japan. We have already collected the following documentation as evidence that we are in a relationship:

- Air tickets and visa stamps when we visited each other's countries
- A photo album containing ~50 photos of us together and with family and friends
- Scans of greetings cards and letters
- WhatsApp chat history log (an overview of number of messages per day, plus screenshots of our chat every month for 4 years)
- Facebook Messenger call history log (an overview of call duration per day, plus screenshots of the Facebook chat every 3 months for 4 years)
- Engagement ring receipt and photos, plus photos from the actual engagement
- Wedding plan (prospective dates for wedding, details of the register office we have chosen and an email from the register office confirming availability)

We are wondering whether it is worth including letters of support from family members and friends to show that our relationship is public. The photo album already contains some photos of us together with both our families and friends, and we will be living in my house which is owned and occupied by myself, so I am unsure whether the supporting letters will be needed or even relevant. Please could people advise if they included any letters from family members or friends and what the letters contained.

Such letters carries no weight and has no influence in swaying decision as such persons can write anything you tell them to. However, more influence is carried by contemporaneous evidence of the subsisting relationship which you indicated you have in ample supply.

Thanks. I guessed this might be the case, but didn't know if any extra information would be beneficial to the application.
