Life in the UK test -timeline

Hi guys,
I was wondering I will apply for ILR next August. How soon do I need to do the Life in the test? Can I do it now?
Does anyone know good resources to prepare for the test.

Yes...you can do it now as the test result has no expiration date. You can search the forum for tips on passing the test. Good luck,

Re: preparing for the test
Personally, I would recommend sticking to the official website and study guides which can be ordered here or on amazon. Feel free to browse the forum for other suggestions, but bear in mind that unofficial study guides and websites might not prepare you as well.

Thanks, ordered the pack from official site. Is there any restriction on the number of time you write the test? What is the score than one should be aiming for?

To my knowledge, you can take it as many times as you need to (or until you run out of money for the Â£34 fee...)

There are 24 questions on the test. I think you need 75% to pass (around 18 out of 24). It's really not too difficult, especially if you use the official study guide. Most of the test is written exactly as presented in the book.

After the test, take special care of your pass certificate! You will need the original when you apply for ILR and naturalisation and you cannot get a replacement if you lose it.

Yes. All adults aged 18-65 need to pass the test. Or, if their English is not good, the ESOL + Citizenship courses. See the BIA website for more.

I do not posses a driving licence nor a passport, have just recently graduated from university. What form of i.d do i need to take in for the Life in UK Test?

My parents brought me here when i was 15, they went back home with my passport, which has is now lost. Not sure what i came in as, because i have never been given or seen the passport. Im guessing i might have originally come in as a visitor.
