Graduate visa and uni

Post by Iwhwj » Thu Jun 30, 2022 2:13 am

Hello. I’m studying at a UK uni in the south of England. I complained against a lecturer and I was victimised and bullied into being quiet by the uni. I’ve experienced quite a bit of harassment. I somehow graduated last week and will be applying for graduate visa soon. After facing corruption and hostility at the uni, I’m wondering if there is corruption at UKVI and whether the uni can, in any way affect my visa application outcome?

I mentioned in an email to one of the staff at uni that I’ve felt suicidal and may feel suicidal later. Can uni legitimately use this info to affect my visa outcome?

Cheers!

What will the corrupt gain, if your application was refused?

Feelings (happy, sad, despair, suicidal, etc.) are not grounds for refusal.

Understanding Suicide.

Letting Go of Fear.

Help for suicidal thoughts.

Thank you for the links. I think it would be in uni’s interest if I’m not able to follow up on my complaint after leaving the uni. Other than that I don’t think they have anything to gain.

It is the university that starts the Graduate visa process by confirming to UKVI that you are eligible to apply under the Graduate route.

Without wanting to minimise what you are feeling, you have asked for advice from people here and I have to say that from a neutral point of view I find it hard believe that university staff have ignored or disregarded your expressions of suicidal feelings, and even more difficult to believe that this would be weaponised against you. If you are genuinely concerned that this might happen, a chat with the International Student Adviser should allay your fears.

I hope you are also getting support from the Students Union in your complaint against the university, as well as support for your current mental health, and I wish you well.

Once the university has confirmed to UKVI that I’m eligible to apply under the Graduate route, do they have any further role in my visa application?
