Unmarried partner settlement visa

Post by lozza21 » Wed Nov 12, 2008 11:06 pm

Hi, thanks for taking the time to read my add :D

I am writing this with regards to a settlement visa application UK. I have been in a relationship with my unmarried partner since June 2004. In December 2004 he came to England with me for a two week holiday and we got engaged in December 2004. I then moved back to England to study medicine in September 2005, the separation was too much so in January 2006 he came to England on a Student Visa. He lived with me until he moved back to Qatar in April 2007 due to completing his course.

During the time he was in England studying he did not get any help financially from the government and was supported by myself (part-time employment as a health care assistant) and him (part-time employment as a cashier in ASDA). Since he moved back to Qatar I visit him in Qatar at least every 3 months for 2 weeks at a time except during the summer when I stay for at least 2 months.

When we are separated we speak on the phone daily or via the internet.

We do not intend to get married as yet as I am currently studying medicine at University. I am in my 4th year and will complete my course in July 2010, which is when we will marry.

Sorry for the long history but i thought it would be easier to answer my questions if you knew the whole story.

Basically on the website it states 'you both have enough money to support and adequately accommodate yourselves and any dependants without help from public funds' how much is adequate? he intends to get a job as soon as he is granted permission.

He only has £17,000 worth of shares but no savings or money in the bank as he currently doesnt have a job and i have £1500 worth of savings. Is this enough?

We are both young and im still in education so dont have much in the form of savings. I have phone records showing i call daily. He has a bank account in the UK and a national insurance number and Sky TV bills from the time we lived together in the UK. We do not have a joint bank account as there was never a need for one.

Can you give me some advice please im a UK citizen born and bread

I think you've lost your window - the 24 months living together has to be the last 24 months and it seems to me that since April 2007 you've just been visiting, not living together.

Are both of u over 21?

You can not qualify as you have not met the 2 years of living together criteria.
