Certificate of travel documents validation please help

I have recently got travel documents which is valid for 2 years and I got indifnate leave to remain can someone please help me with my question I want to know can you renew travel documents once is out of date or it has been expired .... Also I want to know usually travel documents is valid up to 5 years why have they given me only 2 years ???? Thank you
