Can I use the Residence Visa for a short visit ?

Post by srirama9999 » Mon Nov 17, 2008 5:57 am

Hi Friends

I had come to UK on HSMP during the 1+4 scheme, I stayed for more than a year and got my LTR for 4 years.

Thereafter I found a better job outside UK and moved back.

I now plan to travel to UK on a holiday after a gap of almost 2 years, my LTR is still valid.

Can I travel on a short holiday on this visa or do I need to apply for a new tourist visa even though I have a valid visa ?

Would I face any problem with the IO at the port of entry, I plan to tell the truth that I have moved back and am travelling to UK after a long time and for a short holiday.

Pls respond

Thanks

Srirama

I would advise you to obtain a visit visa otherwise you would risk being refused as you would be seeking entry for a purpose different from that which the visa/rp was granted for.

Unless they know you abandoned your visa, you can use it but if you bobble it at the border and fess up with the IO, there will be beaucoup trouble.

Thanks for your responses.

I think the best course is to apply for a visit visa.

Will Residence Permit cause any concerns to them to issue a visit visa ?

Will they cancel the RP ?

Thanks
