It's a condition of naturalisation that you must have an intention to continue to reside in the State following a successful application. However, in terms of demonstrating evidence for this intention, the application form for naturalisation simply asks a binary Yes/No question with the option to say No, providing a single alternative country of intended future residence.
The only way that I can think of to decide on somebody's intention to remain living in a country is their address history. For example, someone who previously resided in one or more EU countries, but is a non-EU citizen when they apply for naturalisation, might have a different incentive for naturalisation compared to an EU citizen.
i am wondering if anyone knows of cases where naturalisation was refused and the reason ultimately was revealed to be a judgement that the person's intention to continue to reside in the State was questionable, thanks.
