Qualifying period

Post by Wtaribo » Thu Aug 25, 2022 11:24 pm

Hi dear brothers and sisters,
I have a concern regarding my qualifying period for naturalisation.
-i have been in the uk for 12 years now (legally),married for 10 years(wife's a naturalised brit,since 2018).
-i was granted ILR 2 years ago on basis of long residence(not marriage).
I applied for naturalisation on the 23/08/22.
NOW my question: if my qualifying period is 3 years(my wife is a brit) then I am fine.
If my qualifying period is 5 years which mean I should have been physically present on the 23/08/2017 then on that day we were on holiday in Turkey with the kids,
Do you think that could be a huge problem?
Also I dont know why but I did a postal application rather than online,is there a big difference?they still haven't debited money from my account.

Thanx in advance

There won't be any problem. Your qualifying period is 3 years since your spouse is British
Also I dont know why but I did a postal application rather than online,is there a big difference?they still haven't debited money from my account.
Postal applications take longer to be processed than applying online but this doesn't affect outcome.
Thanx in advance

Hi thanx for your prompt response, I saw a transaction this morning 8 AM in my account, £1330 paid to PEO PRE PMT..IF thats ukvi then thats pretty fast for a postal application.
Does that mean my file has now been allocated to a caseworker?

We don't have insight into UKVI operations, it'll probably join a queue for pre-screening and then queued for processing/allocation to caseworker team. Remember, they'll probably receive 100s of applications daily (mainly digital now) without applicants being informed at every stage so it's anybody's guess how long it will take.
