Citizenship application - got fined abroad

Hi there,

I got fined in Germany few years back for non-paying a ticket in a tram, they scanned my current passport so I'm in their system as bad bad tourist (I suppose). It was prior I've moved to Ireland. Should I put this in Citizenship application under "Have you ever committed any offenses against the laws of Ireland or any overseas country?" or acknowledge it in any way?

It depends on who fined you. If it was the tram company, and you paid your fines on time, it is unlikely for them to report you to the police. If it’s the police that fined you, then of course your name will be in the system.

I had a speeding ticket in the Netherlands at the time. I just told INIS it was unintentional and attached proof of payment.

I don’t think acknowledging one or two of these minor offences will affect your application in any way. To me it’s more important to be honest. Some people may have other opinions.
