Traveling outside of UK before receiving new BRP

Post by Jessica90 » Fri Sep 30, 2022 2:22 pm

Hi there,

I have sent off an application and biotmerics for ILR(Set M) on 17/06/2022 and am still waiting on a decision. Unfortunately I lost my BRP (expired in August anyway) just before I submitted my application so had to report it as lost and expected to get a new one once I received ILR.

If I theoretically get my application approved but there is a delay in receiving my new BRP would I be able to travel outside the UK without the physical BRP? My previous experience traveling in and out of the UK I rarely had to actually show my physical BRP at border control so I assumed they had all my details on their system.

We have a family holiday booked away and I was quite naive to think when I had sent my ILR application it would actually take this long to process, lesson learned!

In theory you can as you can board a plane back to the UK, but this might be the one time you get stopped at the boarder again.

No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
