Child British citizenship application with expired BRP

Post by amjadk » Tue Oct 18, 2022 2:39 pm

Hi All,

I have recently received my ILR after working in the UK on a Tier 2/skilled worker visa for 5 years. My two kids, who were born in the UK, have their PBS dependent visas expiring soon, which were based on my previous PBS skilled worker visa.

Since I now have my ILR and my kids were born in the UK, I believe I can go for their MN1 (British citizenship) registration without needing to extend their existing visas which would expire by the time I would submit their MN1 application.

Could you please advice whether it would be ok to submit their MN1 registration application with expired visas or should I first extend their visas so their stay does not become illegal before applying for their British citizenship?

I would really appreciate your advice on this.

Many thanks,
AK

Just nice to have it for the NHS usage.

I would really appreciate your advice on this.

No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

You can apply for registration without having to extend their visas, it's not a problem for children. You can also use the same referees for both.
All advice comes from personal research and experience and should not be regarded as professional opinion.
