criminal convictions

my fiancee is going to sponsoring me to come to canada under the common-law partner programme. i am a uk citizen. i have a conviction for drunk driving from over 5 years ago. will this adversely affect my application? . do i still have to declare my conviction on my immigration form if it is considered spent in the uk?
