Dear Senior Members,

I need your help.

I got my British citizenship in Feb-2021 on the basis of 10 years.
My wife got her ILR in Oct-2022 on the basis of 10 years.
we married in April-2012 & from Aug-2012 living together in UK.

Can I apply for her British Naturalization now? on the basis of the spouse of a British citizen.
Let me know if you need more information.

Thanks for your support.
Your wife can apply now as spouse of British citizen (ILR route is not relevant).
Refer to the guidance: https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... n-guidance

Why do people ask their own questions in other's people thread? Are they not supposed to open their own thread?!

Indeed you are right and moderators do attend to such matters to the best of their abilities as it arises on the forum.

Hi guys!

Does someone know if it is required to bring a "Proof of ID" the day of British citizenship ceremony?

If yes, does it need to be the passport you have applied with or can be another Id?

I am asking that because my wife is waiting for the Naturalisation decision and in the while, she would like to exchange her EU driving licence for a UK one (I believe she will have to send her Italian passport to Dvla).

Hope someone can help me with this one too

Not required. Just your invitation letter.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

Thanks for your reply!

My wife is a dual Venezuelan/italian national.

She has applied for "naturalisation" with her Italian passport (and Settled status) but she now has a valid Venezuelan passport too.

Q: in case they will ask for a photo ID (as well as her invitation letter) will her Venezuelan passport be accepted, or it MUST BE the one she applied with (the Italian passport)?

Q: Do you think there's no problem then, to send her Italian passport to DVLA, to exchange her driving licence (their processing time can be very long, even months..)?

Thanks again in advance, just want to be sure I can attend the ceremony without problems..

If they do ask for ID it must be a valid photo ID (according to my letter I received from the council back a few years). The council probably are not aware which passport you used for their application. Their only role in the process is to arrange/conduct the ceremonies.

Q: Do you think there's no problem then, to send her Italian passport to DVLA, to exchange her driving licence (their processing time can be very long, even months..)? Your choice, depending on your travel plans.

That's great!

I was filling today, the D1 form and I've found that I can just give them a "share code" for my Settled Status, and that will be a valid proof of ID for them, so no need to send any passport!

Many thanks!
