I'm a WP -> HSMP -> Tier 1 (via JR ruling) immigrant and I'm trying to sort out what's necessary for my ILR application. If the other forum wins its second judicial review I'll qualify by Feb 2009 as my WP was issued in March 2005.
For the WP visa to count towards the qualifying period I need to show "document(s) confirming that held a valid work permit throughout the period."
Firstly I need to confirm that what I think the work permit document was actually is that. I have a copy of a document that goes:
Dear [Employer],
APPLICATION FOR IMMIGRATION EMPLOYMENT DOCUMENT
APPLICATION BY: [EMPLOYER]
Thank you for your application ... in relation to [ME], who is currently in the United Kindom.
We have approved this application against the work permit criteria for 60 months.
[ME] must now obtain leave to remain.....
A copy of this letter should be given to [ME]
Yours sincerely,
Does this sound like the work permit document? I remember being confused when it was issued as I wasn't expecting a permit to be so free-form. Is it possible there was another single-page permit that was never given to me (HR from my previous employer were a bunch of muppets). The letter makes no reference to this if so.
Secondly, how do I go about proving I had a valid work permit for the duration of my employment? I thought about making a Subject Access Request and producing this to prove the work permit was not cancelled during this time.
I'm also inclined to get the original work permit off my ex-employer although I'm unsure if they'll agree to it.
Suggestions welcome!
