Can child not born in UK eligible for British citizenship

Hi,

We are family of three (me, my wife and son) , we all have ILR for almost last 4 years. While myself andy wife doesn't want to apply for British citizenship , we are looking to apply citizenship for my son ( who is 12 years old) solely.

Is this allowed ? Or parents need to apply with kid for citizenship.

For children born outside the UK to register as a British citizen, either one parent is expected to already be a British citizen or applying to become a British citizen OR the child needs to have resided in the UK for ten years. As the child has held ILR for 4 years, presumably they have resided in the UK for 9 years already.

If the conditions above can't be met, the child can always naturalise in their own right after their 18th birthday, meeting all the same requirements as an adult (absences. physical presence, English language, LITUK, etc).
