Help required on how to get renewal of residence permit based on Article 50 TEU

Post by calluminati » Wed Mar 01, 2023 5:42 am

Hi, I am a UK citizen and my wife came to Ireland based on the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement in Jan 2022 as a non EU spouse. She was given an IRP for an initial one year and is due for renewal end of March. We have been to our local GARDA and they have told us we need to get a renewal letter from the department of Justice but we have no idea how or who to approach for that letter. We have written to EU treaty rights in Dublin but all we were told was to email immigration support.
Please could someone help me with what the correct steps are. Thanks.

Did you get this new 4D one? Did your status change?

In my experience, replies to this generic email will take a while, if any response can be received at all. Look through contact details for ISD, pick one that you thing suits more, send them an email first; if no reply for long, send a paper letter.
Taken from https://www.irishimmigration.ie/coming- ... ly-member/, Unit 5 might be your best choice:
Where you hold a separate immigration permission within the State for the purpose of study or work for example, and then become the spouse, civil partner or de facto partner of a UK citizen, a change of status request may be made to the Department of Justice at the address below:

Unit 5 Domestic Residence and Permissions Division
Immigration Service Delivery
Department of Justice
13-14 Burgh Quay
Dublin 2 D02 XK70
