Employers Letter

Apologies if I have posted this in the incorrect topic.

I have previously obtained an employers letter from the HR department. (First time was straightforward, second time I ended up having to draft it myself and ask them to sign it )

I now need an employers letter for a spouse ILR application. I have contacted my employers HR department and they have flat out refused to supply one, even if I drafted it. They say I already have the information required and they only supply letters for third party requests.

I have explained to them the reasons I need it and the costs involved, but they are not having any of it.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

I have been advised to either put in a 'subject of access request' or contact a solicitor to ask the employer to provide the letter.

Any advice/help is appreciated, causing me a bit of stress...

Thanks for the advice. I sent them a screenshot from the .gov website (about employers letter) and I still didn't get anything. Got a Solicitor to send them an email and two hours later I got a letter. Letter had loads of spelling mistakes, had to email them again twice more to correct the mistakes.
HR said that my enquiry had been dealt with by an apprentice, who is new to his role.
